Overlooking Marawi

I’m Donald, the guy in the middle. You’ll find here a few stories about my experiences in the Philippines. Some of them may be true. There are also pages with information on vacationing and retiring there.

I’m not trying to put together a comprehensive guide to the country and don’t try to be particularly objective. This all just comes out of travel that I have pursued for my own peculiar interests and thought that others might find interesting. I’ve spent the most time in Siquijor and the Dumaguete area of Oriental Negros. I’m American, so some of this info (how to phone and travel to the Phils, for example) is Amerikano-centric. I’m a psychology prof, soon to be retired, and I occasionally mention things related to my research.

I don’t make money from anything recommended here, but if you can think of a way for me to sell out please let me know.

Update: I’m back in the US as of July 13, 2007 and don’t expect to return to the Phils until mid 2008 when I will move there for good. I may continue to post a story or two here in the meantime, but nothing contemporaneous.
